Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The two founts of Catholicism are Scripture and Tradition. The Sacred Scriptures are the inspired Word of God and are God’s revelation to His People. Tradition is the handing on of the Faith through time and culture, the tradition that Saint Paul touches upon in his letter to the Corinthians; “I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures; that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, that he appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve.” This handing on of the faith through the teachings of the Apostles is called the Apostolic Tradition. The Church is therefore, one, holy, catholic, and apostolic. These are the four marks of the Church of God in Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Let us continue to pray for our Holy Father, Pope Francis, the successor of Saint Peter and for all who are united with him in the Catholic Faith.
In Christ,
Fr. Thomas
